Group Day Services

This service supports individuals with developmental disabilities by promoting skill-building, community integration, and personal growth in a structured group setting. Participants engage in a variety of meaningful activities that enhance daily living skills, encourage socialization, and foster independence.

Services may include recreational activities, educational sessions, and other experiences that connect individuals to their communities.

Group Day Services are person-centered and tailored to each individual’s goals, interests, and abilities.

The ultimate goal of Group Day Services is to support individuals in leading fulfilling lives as active and valued members of their communities.

Community Engagement Services

This service is designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities in building meaningful relationships, developing social skills, and participating actively in their communities.

These services promote inclusion by helping individuals connect with community resources, pursue personal interests, and engage in valued roles outside of their homes.

The goal of Community Engagement is to enhance quality of life and independence through increased community participation.

Activities may include volunteering, classes, recreation, or other community-based experiences that align with the individual’s preferences and personal goals. Services are tailored to promote skill-building and natural supports, encouraging long-term, sustainable inclusion.

Organizational Employment

Participants engage in paid work activities, where they receive ongoing training, supervision, and support tailored to their unique needs and abilities. Organizational Employment Services include:

Vocational Skill Development: Education of job-related tasks, workplace behaviors, and soft skills to enhance employability.

Supervised Work Opportunities: Providing real work experiences in a controlled setting, such as light assembly, packaging, or janitorial services.

Individualized Support Plans: Creating personalized goals and support based on each person’s strengths, interests, and long-term employment aspirations.

Pathway to Competitive Employment: Serving as a stepping stone toward integrated employment by building confidence, stamina, and work readiness.

Residential Services

A community-based, 24-hour supervised living arrangement providing a safe, stable, and supportive environment.

This service assists individuals to live as independently as possible while receiving assistance with daily living activities, personal care, medication management, social skills development, and community integration.

Key components include:

  • 24/7 staff support
  • Person-centered planning
  • Skill building activities
  • Coordination of medical/clinical/behavioral services and community inclusion

The goal is to enhance quality of life, increase autonomy, and support individuals in achieving personal goals in a home-like setting, rather than institutional care.

Referral Sources

Referrals to Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. may come from a variety of agencies, professionals, and community partners who support individuals with developmental disabilities in accessing day support, vocational training, and employment services. Referral sources include:

  • Community Services Boards (CSBs) – Service Coordinators who manage Medicaid Waiver authorizations and service plans.
  • Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) – Vocational rehabilitation counselors referring individuals for supported employment or job readiness services.
  • Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) – Through Waiver service authorizations.
  • Local School Systems – Transition specialists, guidance counselors, or special education staff making referrals for students preparing to exit school services.
  • Family Members/Guardians – Parents, guardians, or caregivers who inquire directly about services.
  • Healthcare Providers & Social Workers – Physicians, psychologists, hospitals, or social workers recommending vocational/day services.
  • Community Agencies & Advocacy Organizations – Local nonprofits, The Arc chapters, or other disability advocacy groups.

We have two day programs. Our main location (including administrative offices) is located in Quicksburg, Va. Our other day program is located in Luray, Va. We own and operate three group homes. We have two homes in New Market, Va and one home in Stanley, Va.

 

We serve approximately 90 individuals across all locations. Currently, there is a wait list for residential services.

Yes, we do! In Shenandoah County, we have a transit service that operates between Quicksburg and Strasburg. This service is in high demand and is available if not at capacity. In Page County, we have a transit service that operates between Luray and Stanley. Again, this service is in high demand and is available if not at capacity. Participants who receive Medicaid waiver services may be eligible for transportation assistance through Modivcare.
